The reason for the season

I posted a Facebook post that spurred some interesting conversation.

Have I mentioned I'm over fb?

Here's my op-

Let's get some things clear. I of course want to give my children the world. Plus some. Can I? No. Would I even if I could? Absolutely not. Christmas has become so commercialized and I'm over it. And refuse to teach my children that. What happened to spending time enjoying our families? Instead of being so stressed worrying about buying gifts? And spending so much money on things we won't remember? But the time spent as a family we will.

To us we celebrate Christmas for 2 reasons. 1st to celebrate Christ birth. I want them to know why we celebrate by giving. Since God gave his only son. And memories. My Christmas memories are some of the best. And I don't remember a single "thing".

I have tons of childhood Christmas memories spent shopping with my Dad for my Mom, looking at Christmas lights, baking goodies, all of our huge family stuffing into my Grandmas 110 degree house and eating Yankee pot pie at 1130 at night, my Poppys blue Christmas lights, getting engaged to my husband on Christmas. So many amazing memories. I hope that we're passing down memories they will share with their babies.

My wish for this year-

Christmas was my Dads favorite holiday. And it breaks my heart to know he isn't "here" to see them enjoy and make memories with. But I know he's with us.

My last wish-

I'll let you know how this one works out! Lol!!

Merry Christmas to you and your familes! May you make everlasting memories. May you enjoy each other. Spend the the time doing what's important. And not focused on the "things" or price tags. Remember why your celebrating. Be thankful for all your blessed with. And give to those who aren't.
